Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
The victim will be identified upon notification to the next of kin.
On Friday, August 30, 2024, at approximately 10:35 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to a call of a Person Shot in the 4400 Block of 41st Place North.
When officers arrived on the scene, they observed an adult male lying on the front porch of a residence, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene and transported the victim to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the victim succumbed to his injuries at 12:41 p.m. while at UAB Hospital.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was shot in the 4100 Block of 46th Avenue North. After the victim was wounded by gunfire, he walked a short distance and knocked on the door of a residence before collapsing to the ground. The homeowner called 911 Emergency Services for help.
