Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, July 8, 2022.

The victim has been identified as Kiara Holcombe, (32), B/F, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Just after 6:00 p.m., officers from the South Precinct responded to the corner of Center Street and 4th Avenue South on a call of a person shot. Officers arrived and observed a vehicle that came to rest after striking a fence. Officers discovered the victim Kiara Holcomb unresponsive in the drivers seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.

The preliminary investigation suggest the victim was leaving a residence and a masked gunman approached her vehicle and fired multiple rounds fatally wounding the victim. Detectives believe the victim was targeted. The suspect is still at large.
