Media Release 136- Homicide Investigation-Skeletal Remain found in Burned Vehicle

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday July 8, 2022.

The victim will be identified upon next of kin notification.

Just before 12:00 p.m., officers from the West Precinct responded to 334 Sheridan Road on a call of burned vehicle located on the property of the Fraternal Cemetery. Officers arrived and observed skeletal human remains in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

The preliminary investigation led detectives to classify this incident as a homicide investigation. The investigation is ongoing. No arrest has been made. Updates will be provided as information comes available.

 This is 66th murder investigation of 2022 with 5 justifiable death investigations.
