Deputy Chief Cedric Stevens

Deputy Chief Stevens has over 32 years of Law enforcement experience with the City of Birmingham Police Department.After graduating from Jess Lanier High School in May of 1977, he earned a football scholarship to Livingston University in 1977 and graduated in November 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

He graduated from the Birmingham Police Academy in March 1986, and was assigned to the North Precinct as a Patrolman, and also served as a Field Training Officer.  In addition, he held assignments with the FBI Task Force, Department of Youth Services Gang Task Force, and the Robbery Unit.  He was promoted to Sergeant in 1994 and assigned to the West Precinct.  He was promoted to Lieutenant in May 1999 and assigned to the East Precinct.  In November 2000, he was assigned to Vice/Narcotics and graduated from the U. S. Dept. of Justice DEA Commanders Academy that same year.  In January 2002, he was assigned to North Precinct as the Evening Shift Commander, in 2005 to the Youth Services Unit, and in 2008 he transferred to the Robbery Unit again.  In January 2009, he was promoted to Captain, and assigned as the Commander of the Property Room, Data Entry, I.D. Unit, Records and the Communications Unit.  In July 2011, he was assigned to the North Precinct as Commander, where he served until he was promoted to Deputy Chief of Operations on June 7, 2018.
