Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, April 18, 2021.

The victim has been identified:
Tyree Marcell Brown, (18), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 8:20 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to St. Vincent’s Hospital on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and were informed by hospital staff that the victim had succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was at Wilson’s convenience store (1200 Five Mile Road) when a vehicle entered the parking lot. An unknown occupant of the vehicle began firing shots ultimately striking the victim. There are no suspect(s) currently in custody.
