Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The victim was discovered on Sunday, May 17, 2020.

The victim has been identified as Christy Bridgemon (38), W/F, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 10:20 a.m., officers from the East Precinct responded to 2209 Center Street North. Upon arrival the victim was found on the floor unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and the victim was pronounced deceased. BPD was later notified by medical examiner the manner of death was deemed as homicide.

The preliminary investigation suggest the victim was discovered after she was not seen nor heard from in days. Information is limited in this investigation. There are no suspect(s) in custody. Detectives have not established a clear motive in this investigation. This is an ongoing investigation. Additional details will be released as they come available.

The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations into the total homicide investigations counts.
