Street Racing & Exhibition Driving Enforcement

The Birmingham Police Department would like to provide a comprehensive update on the efforts to target street racing and exhibition driving in the City of Birmingham. Beginning in February 2021, we began to see an increase in street racing and exhibition driving. BPD has also been in communication with our community members that have expressed growing concerns of this issue mostly in the downtown area. We would like to provide statistics from the efforts our department has made to combat this concern. There have been multiple operations conducted where we have moved additional resources to problem areas to disrupt and cite those involved.

Over 700 citations have been written, 17 arrest made, 16 firearms recovered, and 19 vehicles have been towed. These actions have been directly correlated with street racing and exhibition driving.
