Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, July 1, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Kameron Connell, (30), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
Just after 8 p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call at an apartment complex in the 7700 Block of 1st Avenue South.
Officers arrived on the scene when they observed the victim lying unresponsive in the parking lot of the complex.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and transported the victim to UAB Hospital where UAB Hospital staff pronounced him deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests officers located the victim in a parking lot where a dice had taken place. Detectives are working to determine if the dice game led to the victim being shot.
