Media Release 157- Homicide Investigation- Commons Drive
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, July 30, 2022.
The victim has been identified as:
Bill Deran Brown Jr., (26), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 9:00 PM, South Precinct officers were dispatched to 424 Commons Drive (In Town Suites) on report of shots fired. Officers arrived on the scene and learned a person was shot inside of a room.
Officers observed the victim lying unresponsive inside of a room suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was involved in an argument which led to an unknown suspect(s) shooting into the victim’s room from the outside.
Currently, there is no one in custody.
