Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, August 12, 2022.
The victim has been identified as:
Alfred Lorenzo Jenkins Jr., (18), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 5:50 PM, South Precinct officers were dispatched to 4012 Block of Messer Airport Highway (Shell) on report of a person shot.
Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim lying unresponsive inside of the business suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to UAB Hospital. The victim succumbed to his injuries at UAB Hospital.
The preliminary investigation suggests multiple individuals opened fire on the victim. They fled the scene. Currently, there is no one in custody.
