Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, July 26, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Reco Dewayn Stevenson, (30), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 9:25 pm, South Precinct Officers responded to a call of a Person Shot in the 100 Block of Penthouse Dr. at Mountainside Apts.
When officers arrived on the scene, they observed an adult male inside a vehicle lying unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was sitting outside in the vehicle when an unknown suspect approached the victim and fired multiple shots into the vehicle, fatally wounding the victim.
There is no one in custody.
