Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
The victim has been identified as:
Corye Daniels, (31), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 11:55 AM, North Precinct officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 1400 Block of 17th Street North on report of a person shot.
Officers arrived on the scene and immediately made contact with the person of interest. Officers took the person of interest into custody free of any incident. Officers then observed the victim lying unresponsive inside of an apartment.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim and the person of interest were involved in an argument that led to shots being fired.
The person of interest will be interviewed by BPD Homicide detectives at BPD Headquarters.
