Homicide Investigation: Two People Shot

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

The victim has been identified as:

Kayla Warren, (28), B/F, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 8:05 p.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call at a residence in the 700 Block of 30th Street Southwest.

Officers arrived at the residence when they observed the victim on the front porch suffering from a gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and transported the victim to UAB Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Officers learned an adult male gunshot victim arrived at Princeton Hospital by private vehicle. The adult male victim was also shot during this incident. He has life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation suggests both victims were at the residence when an unknown suspect(s) fired shots towards the residence.

There is no one in custody.
