Arrests- Asia Poole Homicide Investigation: Monarch Ridge Apartment Shooting

Birmingham Police Department detectives have obtained arrest warrants on three suspects in the Asia Poole Homicide / Monarch Ridge (Valleybrook) Shooting Investigation.

Asia Poole was shot and killed on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in the 2900 Block of Gallant Drive.

Suspects:

1. Ja’Niyah Hendrix, (19), of Birmingham, Alabama. Auto Theft ($30,000 Bond).

2. Justin Hendrix, (20), of Birmingham, Alabama. Murder & Attempted Murder (No Bond).

3. Taylor McCloud, (22), of Fairfield, Alabama. Murder & Attempted Murder (No Bond).

Both Hendrix suspects were arrested by the Birmingham Police Department’s SWAT Team.

An outside agency arrested McCloud.

All suspects have been booked into the Jefferson County Jail.

Homicide Investigation

Media Release 191

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

The victim has been identified as:

Asia Alyce Poole, (21), B/F, of Birmingham Alabama.

 At approximately 10:09 p.m. East Precinct responded to a call of multiple shots fired in the area. The call was soon updated to a Person Shot.

When officers arrived on the scene, they observed an adult female lying on the ground unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests a physical altercation occurred between multiple individuals including the victim. Once the individuals were separated, shots were fired by an unknown individual, fatally wounding the victim. A second victim, also suffering from an apparent gunshot wound was transported to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services.

The victim’s vehicle was also stolen from the incident location but was quickly recovered in the 2300 Block of Center Point Parkway unoccupied.

There is no one in custody.

 This is Birmingham’s 93rd murder investigation of 2023 with 8 justifiable death investigations.

The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations in the total homicide investigations counts.
