BPD Patrol Officers Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect After Brief Foot Chase
Birmingham Police detectives have obtained an arrest warrant in a robbery investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in the 1200 Block of 47th Street North.
The suspect has been identified as:
Quinton Shell, (26), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At around 12:45 p.m., South Precinct officers were dispatched to a Robbery in Progress call in the 4600 Block of 13th Avenue North.
Officers quickly arrived on the scene when they learned an adult male had been robbed at gunpoint nearby of several belongings and the suspect was fleeing on foot.
Officers got into a foot chase with the suspect. During the foot chase, officers heard the suspect fire a shot. Officers observed a bystander fall after the shot was fired.
Officers initially believed the bystander was shot; however, officers later determined no one had been shot.
Officers were able to take the suspect into custody in the area after a brief foot chase. Officers recovered a ski mask.
Officers reported they did NOT believe the suspect was firing at them during the foot chase.
Robbery detectives obtained a Robbery 1st Degree (Firearm) warrant on Quinton Shell.
He is in the Jefferson County Jail and has No Bond.
