Media Release 208- 16-Year-Old Arrested for Bomb Threat
BPD Detectives Arrest 16-Year-Old for Making Bomb Threat to Woodlawn High School
On Thursday, September 12, 2024, around Noon, BPD School Resources Officers (SROs) assigned to Woodlawn High were alerted someone called in a Bomb Threat to Woodlawn High School.
The BPD Intelligence Unit investigated the threat and then notified BPD Felony Assault detectives.
The BPD Intelligence Unit and BPD Felony Assault detectives quickly identified a suspect involved.
The suspect has been identified as:
16-year-old male juvenile. Woodlawn High School student.
BPD SROs took the suspect into custody at Woodlawn High School. BPD Felony Assault detectives interviewed the suspect at BPD Headquarters; the suspect confessed to making the bomb threat.
BPD SROs transported the suspect to the Jefferson County Youth Detention Center where he was taken in for Making a Terrorist Threat 1st Degree.
The Birmingham Police Department will continuously demonstrate that terroristic threats made towards our students will be investigated using all available resources.
