BPD School Resource Officers Arrest 16-Year-Old for Making Terroristic Threat at Wenonah High School
On Friday, September 13, 2024, at around 10:30 a.m., BPD School Resource Officers (SROs) assigned to Wenonah High School were alerted of a student making a terroristic threat in a classroom.
The suspect has been identified as:
16-year-old male juvenile. Wenonah High School.
BPD SROs learned the suspect was in class when his classmates made a joke about him that “he didn’t like.”
The suspect responded by saying he was going to carry out a shooting at the school this upcoming Monday. Students and Wenonah staff were present when the suspect made the verbal threat.
BPD SROs arrested the suspect. BPD SROs presented case information to a Jefferson County Family Court Magistrate.
BPD SROs signed a juvenile petition on the suspect for the allegation of
Making a Terrorist Threat 2nd Degree.
The Birmingham Police Department will continuously demonstrate that terroristic threats made towards our students will be investigated using all available resources.
