Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, September 13, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Chuck Wallace, (33), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At around 12:05 p.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call in the Collegeville Housing Community located in the 3000 Block of 32nd Avenue North.
Officers arrived on the scene when they observed the victim lying near a sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and transported the victim to UAB Hospital. The victim succumbed to his injuries en route to UAB Hospital.
The preliminary investigation suggests an unknown suspect shot the victim in a targeted shooting.
The suspect is not in custody.
The Birmingham Department’s Real Time Crime Center is assisting officers and detectives in this investigation by utilizing the Housing Authority of Birmingham’s investment in surveillance cameras.
