Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, September 23, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Jamarcus McIntyre, (32), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 9:20 p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to the 700 Block of 81st Place South on report of a Shot Spotter alert.
Officers arrived on the scene and then observed the victim lying unresponsive on the sidewalk suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers then located an adult female lying in a front yard suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and pronounced the victim deceased. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel transported the adult female victim to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
An adult male arrived at St. Vincent’s East by private vehicle.
The preliminary investigation suggests an unknown suspect(s) shot the victims then fled in a vehicle.
There is no one in custody.
