The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. The victim has been identified as Rodriguez Deonte Jones, (25), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama. At approximately 12:48 a.m., officers from West Precinct responded to a vehicle fire located near Woodward Park in the 1300 block of McMillon Avenue Southwest.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire and found a severely burned body in the passenger seat of the vehicle. Details are limited in this investigation. This is Birmingham’s 79th homicide investigation of 2020 and 14 justifiable death investigations and 1 non-criminal homicide (accidental shooting).
