Media Release 242- Homicide Investigation- 29th Street Southwest

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 26, 2022.

The victim has been identified as:

Jerrod Excell Turner, (30), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama. 

At approximately 6:50 PM, Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) personnel received a 911 call that a person was shot in the 2800 Block of 29th Street Southwest. West Precinct officers responded to the location along with BFR.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim lying unresponsive in the driveway of the house (which appears to be abandoned) suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

BFR pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests a family member discovered the victim and called 911. Currently, there is no one in custody.
