Double Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy on two victims Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service personnel discovered in a burned vehicle on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, in the 1600 Block of 89th Place North.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will identify the victims.

The autopsy revealed the victims’ manner of death was Homicide.

There is no one in custody.

Birmingham Firefighters Discover Two Bodies in Burning Vehicle

 (Media Release 242)

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting two unclassified death investigations. The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will identify the victims.

Just before 8 a.m., Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service (BFRS) personnel were dispatched to a Fire call in the 1600 Block of the 89th Place North.

BFRS personnel arrived and extinguished the flames; they discovered two victims inside the vehicle burned.

BPD Homicide detectives are investigating the deaths as unclassified death investigations. ATF agents are assisting BPD detectives.

The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy on the victims to determine their identities, the cause of death, and the manner of death.
