17-Year-Old Juvenile Shot in East Birmingham

 The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a shooting investigating that left a 17-year-old male juvenile injured by gunfire. The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

At around 9:50 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to a call of a Person Shot in the 5600 block of 1st Avenue North (Woodlawn High School).

Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim in the passenger seat of a vehicle unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue services arrived on the scene and transported the victim to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was involved in a verbal altercation while leaving a basketball game. The victim and a friend attempted to leave the location (54th Street and 2nd Avenue North) in their vehicle when the unknown suspect fired multiple shots into their vehicle, striking the victim on the passenger side of the vehicle. The driver drove to the 5600 Block of 1st Avenue North (Woodlawn High School) for help. The suspect left the scene in an unknown vehicle.

There is no one in custody.
