Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Arlington Jerome Daniel, (50), B/M, of Birmingham.
At approximately 2:13 a.m., East Precinct Officers responded to a call of a Person Shot inside a residence in the 6800 Block of 68th Street South.
A ShotSpotter notification also registered approximately 14 rounds of gunfire in the area.
When officers arrived on the scene and entered the residence they observed an adult male victim, lying on the floor, unresponsive, and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests that there was some type of gathering inside the residence when an altercation occurred. Shots were fired from outside of the residence, as well as inside the residence. The victim was fatally wounded by gunfire. There were multiple people inside the residence at the time of the shooting. Some individuals remained on the scene and are fully cooperating with our Homicide detectives.
No one else was injured.
There is no one in custody currently.

This is Birmingham’s 127th murder investigation of 2024 with 11 justifiable death investigations.
