Homicide Investigation Update
The Birmingham Police Department reports that a suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, September 23, 2019 at approximately 3:55 a.m.
The victim has been identified as:
Tiyesha Carson, B/F, 37, of Birmingham, Alabama.
Officers from the West Precinct responded to a Shot Spotter call in the 1300 block of Avenue V. While responding, officers received additional information of a subject behind a residence in the 1300 block of Avenue V. Officers arrived and observed a female subject in the rear of the residence suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived and transported the victim to UAB Hospital for treatment. Investigators later received information that the victim had succumbed to her injury and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
The suspect has been identified as:
Terrence Watkins, B/M, 37, of Birmingham, Alabama. A Murder warrant has been obtained against the suspect. The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
