Double Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a double homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
The victims will be identified upon notification to their next of kin.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a Shots Fired call in the 4400 Block of 41st Place North.
Officers arrived in the area when they went to the back of an abandoned house. Officers observed a male gunshot victim lying unresponsive in the driveway of the house.
Officers searched the area and observed a second male inside the abandoned house. He was suffering from a gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and pronounced the victims deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the abandoned house was previously damaged in a fire. Shots were fired at the abandoned house. The two victims were shot and killed.
Officers took a person of interest into custody at the abandoned house. Officers took a second suspect into custody near the abandoned house.
Officers transported both males to BPD Headquarters, where BPD Homicide detectives interviewed them. The two persons of interests were later booked into the Birmingham City Jail on a 48-Hour Felony Extension for Murder.
Investigators believe there were other individuals involved who are not in custody.
