Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at approximately 11:37 p.m.
The identity of the deceased will be released upon confirmation and notification of immediate family. Officers from the East Precinct responded to a call of a person shot at 3838 39th Court North. Upon arrival officers located the victim lying in the front yard unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to UAB hospital by Birmingham Fire & Rescue for treatment. Investigators later received information that the victim had succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. Officers later discovered another subject inside the residence that was also suffering from a gunshot wound. The second subject, who would later be identified as a suspect, was transported to UAB hospital by Birmingham Fire & Rescue for treatment. The second subject/suspect’s condition has been classified as critical.
Investigators are continuing to gather additional information on details of the altercation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
