Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The victim was discovered on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at approximately 6:45 p.m.
The victim has been identified as:
Kim Paul Walker, W/M, 63 of Birmingham, Alabama.
Officers from the South Precinct responded to 951 18th Street South to perform a welfare check on the victim due to concerns of the victim’s well-being by co-workers. Upon arrival officers located the victim unresponsive inside his apartment. Birmingham Fire & Rescue along with the Jefferson County Coroner arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
Investigators learned that the victim was involved in an altercation on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at approximately 2:00 a.m. The victim suffered a head wound as he assisted co-workers in escorting unruly patrons from a bar. Additional information will be released as it becomes available. No suspects are in custody.
