Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, December 2, 2019 at approximately 3:00 a.m.
The identity of the deceased will be released upon confirmation and notification of immediate family.
Officers from the West Precinct responded to a call of shots fired at 6th Street and St. Charles Avenue SW. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim unresponsive on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced diseased on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue. Officers also encountered a female victim (juvenile) struck by gunfire. She was transported to Children’s Hospital with life threatening injuries.
There are no suspect(s) in custody. Investigators are continuing to gather information. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
