Public’s Assistance in the Maleyk Bryant Homicide Investigation
Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information on a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, that claimed the life of Maleyk Bryant.
At approximately 11:50 PM, West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 1300 Block of 34th Street Ensley on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and observed a vehicle which had collided into a parked vehicle. Upon further investigation, officers observed Maleyk Bryant inside of the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was unresponsive.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was possibly targeted; there were over 40 rounds fired in this incident.
Currently, there is no one in custody.

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
The victim has been identified as:
Maleyk Kyre Bryant, (21), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 11:50 PM, West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 1300 Block of 34th Street Ensley on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and observed a vehicle which had collided into a parked vehicle. Upon further investigation, officers observed an occupant (victim) of the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was unresponsive.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
