Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Tadaruis Omar Debodre Jones, (30), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 12:23 am, West Precinct officers were responding to a call of a Person Shot in the 1400 Block of 3rd Avenue W, in a small shopping plaza.
When officers arrived on the scene, they observed the adult male victim lying face down in the parking lot, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim along with multiple people were gathered in the parking lot of a shopping plaza when the victim was approached by an unknown suspect. The suspect shot the victim and left the location.
There is no one in custody.
