Media Release 69- Homicide Investigation- Inglenook Lane

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

At approximately 6:05 p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call at 4601 Inglenook Lane, a UPS facility.

The victim has been identified as:

Anthony Lamar Love Jr., (44), B/M of Alabaster, Alabama.

When officers arrived on the scene, they observed an adult male lying on the ground unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim, a UPS employee, had just ended his shift. While walking to his vehicle, the victim was confronted and shot by an unknown suspect who left the scene.

The victim was targeted.

There is no one in custody.

This is Birmingham’s 32nd murder investigation of 2024 with 4 justifiable death investigations.

The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations in the total homicide investigations counts.
