Homicide/ Kidnapping Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the kidnapping of Nakita Chantryce Davidson, who was shot and kidnapped on April 11, 2024, at 6th Avenue SW and MLK Jr. Drive.

The suspect has been identified as:

Cedric Dewayne Robertson, (37), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Birmingham Police Detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for review. After assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Kidnapping 1st Degree on Cedric Dewayne Robertson.

On Friday, April 12, 2024, at approximately 3:18 p.m., Birmingham Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team and members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force were assisting in the search of the victim when they located her vehicle in the 2300 block of 18th Place SW, in a wooded dead-end area. When officers approached the vehicle, they observed the victim deceased inside of the vehicle.

At approximately 6:40 p.m., on Friday, April 12, 2024, BPD’s Crime Reduction Team, the U.S. Marshals Task Force members, and the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office successfully located and apprehended the suspect in the 2100 Block of Northland Avenue SW.

The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail and has No Bond.

Homicide Detectives will present case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office related to Capital Murder for review.

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, April 12, 2024, in the 2300 Block of 18th Place SW.

The victim has been identified as:

Nakita Chantryce Davidson, (40), B/F, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 3:18 p.m. the U.S. Marshals Task Force and Birmingham Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team located a burgundy vehicle in a wooded dead-end area.

When officers arrived on the scene, they observed the victim, Nakita Davidson, deceased inside the vehicle.

Nakita Davidson is the victim of a kidnapping investigation that began on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 6th Avenue SW and MLK.

At approximately 2:11 a.m., South Precinct officers responded to a call of a two-vehicle accident.

When officers arrived on the scene, they observed one vehicle at the location. Officers also observed evidence of a violation crime.

We believe that the suspect, Cedric Dewayne Robertson, shot the victim placed her inside her vehicle, and left the scene.

A warrant for kidnapping 1st Degree with No Bond has been issued for the suspect’s arrest in connection to the disappearance of Nikita Davidson.

We believe the suspect to be armed and dangerous.
