Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, April 15, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Eric Savoy Brown, (33), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 10:10 pm, North Precinct officers were responding to a ShotSpotter activation of approximately ten gunshots fired at Graymont Avenue and Center Street.
While en route, the call was updated to a Person Shot at 6th Avenue W and Center Street.
When officers arrived on the scene, they observed an adult male lying on the ground unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the shooting began at Graymont Avenue and Center Street. We believe that the victim ran approximately one block to 6th Avenue W and Center Street where he collapsed.
The victim was targeted.
There is no one in custody.

This is Birmingham’s 37th murder investigation of 2024 with 4 justifiable death investigations.
