Arrest Made in the Terry Hinson Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Terry Hinson who was shot and killed on Sunday, April 28, 2024, in the 1700 Block of Avenue I.
The suspect has been identified as:
Cedric Campbell, (42), B/M, of Center Point, Alabama.
On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, BPD Homicide detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for review. After the review, a warrant for Murder was issued on Cedric Campbell.
On Thursday, May 2, 2024, the Birmingham Crime Reduction Team arrested the suspect at 2390 CenterPoint Parkway (Bama Gas).
Cedric Campbell is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail where he will be held with No Bond.
Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, April 28, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Terry Dewayne Hinson, B/M, (50), of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 3:22 pm, West Precinct officers were responding to a call of a Person Shot in the 1700 Block of Avenue I, the Ensley community.
When officers arrived on the scene, they observed the victim lying in the roadway unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Officers also observed a citizen attempting to render aid to the victim.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim and others were hanging out in the area when a verbal altercation ensued. An unknown suspect fired shots, wounding the victim, and left the scene.
There is no one in custody.
