Media Release 92- Homicide Investigation- 1st Avenue South

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

The victim has been identified as:

Carlos Seawright, (33), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.  

At approximately 3:20 p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call at a residence in the 6800 Block of 1st Avenue South.

Officers arrived on the scene and then observed the victim lying unresponsive in the front yard of the residence.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests a passing motorist observed the victim and then dialed 911. Additional details are limited in this investigation.

There is no one in custody.
