Double Homicide Investigation Update

The Birmingham Police Department reports the second victim in the double homicide investigation that occurred on November 22, 2020 has been identified.
The second victim has been identified as:

Darnell Ogletree, (22), b/m, of Birmingham, Alabama.

This is Birmingham’s 96th homicide investigation of 2020 with 13 justifiable death investigations and 1 non-criminal homicide (accidental shooting). The
Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI
Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations into the total homicide investigations
counts.

Media Release 253- Double Homicide Investigation Update-Darnell Ogletree

 

Double Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a double homicide investigation. The incident occurred early Monday morning on November 22, 2020.

The victim has been identified as:

Johnathan Jackson, (48) w/m, of Hueytown, Alabama.

The other victim’s identity will be released upon formal identification and notification of next of kin. At approximately 3:18 a.m., officers from West Precinct responded to a shot spotter call at 2010 48th Place Southwest. Officers arrived and observed a male victim lying on the ground next to a car with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the upper extremities. Officers also observed the identified victim, Johnathan Jackson unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Responded to the scene and both victims were pronounced deceased. There are limited details in this investigation. There are no suspects in custody.
