Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, May 7, 2022.

The victim has been identified as Teresa Denise Coleman, (45), b/f, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Just before 8:30 a.m., officers from the West Precinct responded to the 3200 block of Beulah Avenue Southwest on a call of shots fired in the area. Officers arrived and observed a vehicle that struck a stop sign. Inside of the vehicle officers observed the victim, Teresa Denise Coleman in the driver’s seat suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Coleman was pronounced deceased on scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.

The preliminary investigation indicates an argument and a single gunshot was heard before the victim’s car struck the stop sign. The suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The suspect is at large.

This is Birmingham’s 44th murder investigation of 2022 with 5 justifiable death investigation.
