Justifiable Death Ruling

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have received a ruling in connection to the homicide investigation of Glen Morrow. The incident occurred on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 420 78th Street South.

Investigators presented the information gathered to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office for review. Following the assessment, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office ruled the actions justifiable. This investigation is reclassified as Justified Death Investigation #8.

The Birmingham Police Department has had 95 murders thus far in 2023.The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations into the total homicide investigations counts.

Homicide Investigation

(Media Release 112)

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, May 27, 2023.

The victim has been identified as:

Glen Junior Morrow, (37), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.  

At approximately 10:45 PM, East Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call at an apartment complex located at 420 78th Street South.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed an adult male lying unresponsive in the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim got into a verbal argument with a person in the parking lot. The person shot the victim then fled the scene.

There is no one in custody.
