BPD Detectives Arrest Robbery / Sexual Assault Suspect
Birmingham Police Department Robbery and Special Victims Unit (SVU) detectives have made an arrest in an ongoing Robbery / Sexual Assault investigation.
The suspect has been identified as:
Christian Jerel Thomas, (36), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
In February, BPD Robbery detectives investigated a report of a victim who was robbed and sexually assaulted in West Birmingham.
In April, SVU detectives investigated three separate cases involving three separate victims who were sexually assaulted and/or robbed in West Birmingham.
Through the course of the four separate investigations, BPD detectives identified Christian Thomas as a suspect.
Recently, Birmingham Police Department Robbery and SVU detectives presented case information in the four separate cases to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.
The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office issued the following warrants on Christian Thomas:
Kidnapping 1st Degree, Robbery 1st Degree X’S 4, Rape 1st Degree X’s 2, Sodomy 1st Degree X’s 6.
The Birmingham Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team arrested Christian Thomas on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. He is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail where he is being held with No Bond.
The Birmingham Police Department and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office believe there may be other victims.
