Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, May 17, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Jalen Darrel Bonner, (25), B/M, of Center Point, Alabama.
At approximately 4:45 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to a call of a Decomposed Body at Vanderbilt Road and 15th Avenue N.
When officers arrived on the scene, they observed the victim, who appeared to be a male lying off the roadway in a wooded area deceased.
Jefferson County Coroner’s Office arrived on the scene and took possession of the victim’s remains.
The cause of death could not be determined.
On Monday, May 20, 2024, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office ruled this Unclassified Death Investigation a Homicide.
The victim was fatally wounded by gunfire.
It is unknown when and where the shooting occurred.
