Media Release 134- Homicide Investigation- Barbee Street

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office is in the process of identifying the victim.

Just before 2:00 a.m., Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) personnel were dispatched to a vehicle fire in the 300 Block of Barbee Street. BFR personnel arrived on the scene and then extinguished the fire. They discovered burned remains inside the vehicle.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office took custody of the victim’s remains.

The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy on the victim. The autopsy revealed the victim died as a result of a homicide.

There is no one in custody.
