Public’s Assistance with the LaKevin Debruce Homicide Investigation

 Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information on a homicide that occurred on Saturday, November 18, 2023, in the 2600 Block of Avenue C that claimed the life of LaKevin Debruce.

At approximately 4:01 p.m., West Precinct officers responded to a call of a person shot at the intersection of 26th Street Ensley and Avenue C.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed an adult male lying in the roadway near a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services arrived on the scene and transported the victim to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 5:05 p.m.

The preliminary investigation suggests someone in the area heard gunfire and then observed the victim fall out of a vehicle into the roadway and called 911 Emergency Services.

There is no one in custody.

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

The victim has been identified as:

LaKevin Debruce. (22), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama. 

At approximately 4:01 p.m., West Precinct officers responded to a call of a person shot at the intersection on 26th Street Ensley and Avenue C.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed an adult male lying in the roadway near a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
