Arrest Made in the Mother’s Day Shooting Investigation of Father and 12-Year-Old Son

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the shooting of a father and 12-year-old son

The suspect has been identified as:

Kamryn Cade, (22), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

During this investigation, detectives identified Kamryn Cade as a suspect. The leads developed by our detectives and tips from the community allowed us to present this case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.

Birmingham Police Detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained warrants for Attempted Murder X’s 2, Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle X’S 2, Robbery 1st Degree.

Kamryn Kade was arrested by an outside agency. He is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail where he is being held with No Bond.

Father and Juvenile Son Shot in West Birmingham

The Birmingham Police Department has launched an assault investigation after a father and his juvenile son were shot in West Birmingham. The incident occurred on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

Just before 2 p.m. West Precinct officers were dispatched to a Shot Spotter alert in the 1500 Block of Cullman Avenue.

Officers were updated that a person was shot at the location. Officers arrived on the scene and observed an adult male lying in the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) personnel arrived and transported the victim to UAB Hospital.

Officers learned a juvenile gunshot victim arrived at Fire Station 16 (2001 Avenue I) by private vehicle. Officers arrived at Fire Station 16 and then observed a juvenile male 11-12 years old suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

BFR personnel transported the juvenile to  Children’s Hospital.

Both victims suffered serious injuries but are expected to survive.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victims were shot in a targeted shooting. Detectives are working to determine the motive in this shooting.

There is no one in custody.
