Arrest Made in the Carlos Seawright Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Carlos Seawright. He was shot and killed on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in the 6800 Block of 1st Avenue South.

The suspect has been identified as:

Na’Derious Jackson, (24), B/M, of Center Point, Alabama.

During this investigation, the community assisted BPD Homicide detectives.

In July, Birmingham Police Detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Murder.

On Monday, August 12, 2024, BPD’s Crime Reduction Team arrested Jackson.

Na’Derious Jackson is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail where he is being held with No Bond.

Homicide Investigation

(Media Release 92)

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

The victim has been identified as:

Carlos Seawright, (33), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.  

At approximately 3:20 p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call at a residence in the 6800 Block of 1st Avenue South.

Officers arrived on the scene and then observed the victim lying unresponsive in the front yard of the residence.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests a passing motorist observed the victim and dialed 911. Additional details are limited in this investigation.

There is no one in custody.
