Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.
The victim has been identified as Akeem Travonte Davis, (34), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 1:31 a.m., Officers from the North Precinct responded to a call of person down in 10 Block of Avenue W. Upon arrival officers discovered the victim lying in the alley with no visible signs of injury unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
Jefferson County Coroner took possession of the victim’s remains. Birmingham Police Department’s Homicide Division was advised further examination revealed the victim suffered a gunshot wound which resulted in his death. There are no suspect(s) in custody and investigators have not established a motive in this homicide.

The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations into the total homicide investigations counts.
