The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, February 26, 2022.

The victim has been identified as:

Nadarrius Lewis, (28), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 5:55 a.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Tempest Drive Southwest (Forest Hills Apartment Complex) on report of a person shot.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed two adult males suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. BFR transported the second male to UAB Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was previously involved in a romantic relationship with a woman at the apartment and showed up to the apartment this morning where an argument ensued between the victim and another male at the apartment prior to shots being fired inside of the apartment. The victim was fatally struck by gunfire.

Officers recovered a firearm near the victim. BPD Homicide detectives will interview all witnesses. At the conclusion of their investigation, detectives will present the case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office to see if any criminal charges will be filed.
