Media Release 84- Homicide Investigation- Steiner Avenue Southwest

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, April 21, 2023.

The victim has been identified as:

Venture Conard Harrison, (44), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 3:00 PM, West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 2300 Block of Steiner Avenue Southwest on report of multiple Shot Spotter alerts.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim lying unresponsive in a front yard suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries. UAB Hospital Staff pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was involved in an argument with a separate party at the M & N Gas Station, located in the 2300 Block of Pearson Avenue.

Shots were fired during the argument.

The separate party (original argument) then confronted the victim in the 2300 Block of Steiner Avenue Southwest. A suspect(s) in the separate party fired shots at the victim striking him.

There is no one in custody.
