Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Roderick Mariachi Williams Jr. He was shot and killed on Friday, April 29, 2022. A second male suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot in this incident.
The suspect has been identified as:
Dmarcco Montez Harris, (26), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
Birmingham Police Detectives presented information on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained warrants for Murder & Attempted Murder.
Dmarcco Harris is currently in the custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office with a $2,000,000 Bond.

Homicide Investigation
(Media Release 87)
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, April 29, 2022.
The victim has been identified as:
Roderick Mariachi Williams Jr., (25), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 10:55 PM, South Precinct officers were dispatched to the 4200 of 2nd Avenue South on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene, at an apartment complex, when they observed the victim lying unresponsive on a staircase suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers observed a second male lying unresponsive on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. BFR transported the second male victim to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation suggests the two victims were involved in an altercation with a third male prior to shots being fired. South Precinct officers took the third male into custody as a person of interest. Birmingham Police Homicide detectives will interview the third male at the Birmingham Police Headquarters.
Detectives will present the case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office who will determine if criminal charges will be filed.
