Public’s Assistance with the Tyler Griffin Homicide Investigation
Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information on a Mother’s Day homicide that occurred on Sunday, May 14, 2017, that claimed the life of Tyler Griffin.
At around 9:30 a.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 3400 Block of Boise Avenue on report of a Person Shot.
Officers arrived on the scene and then observed the victim lying unresponsive on the ground; he was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation has revealed the victim was at a residence attending a small gathering when a suspect began arguing with him; the suspect shot Tyler in the back while Tyler was running away.
